Alexander Quinn Copley
B.S. in Marine Biology and a Scientific, Technical, and Professional Communication Certificate at Oregon State University
Story Lab Intern
Alex Copley is a third-year undergraduate pursuing a B.S. in Marine Biology and a Scientific, Technical, and Professional Communication Certificate at Oregon State University. He is a student journalist under the College of Liberal Arts Story Lab Fellowship partnered with the Gurr Lab through summer 2026. Each term, he will create one article featuring the stories related to the team and their research. The goal of each piece will be to showcase the people behind the science and the implications of their efforts beyond the scientific community. Alex takes great inspiration from Trevor Corson’s work in the Maine lobster fishery and hopes to demonstrate similar interplay between research and local communities in Oregon. He hopes to continue conducting marine science communications in his eventual career through future articles, presentations, and books. When not writing or studying, Alex enjoys playing video games, listening to music, cooking, and hand-sewing small plushies.
