Katie Dammann
Branch Experiment Stations (BES) Research Internship Fellow
Kate Dammann is going into her third year studying Oceanography at Oregon State University. She is passionate about estuarine and coastal processes and ecology, and how a changing climate impacts our oceans. It is important to her that scientific research is accessible and presented in a way that can be understood by the general public, and she plans to incorporate this philosophy into her future career. In the Gurr Lab this summer, she is working with a long-term dataset of water quality parameters in Yaquina Bay, focusing on extreme events. She will create a user-friendly site where the public, industry, and members of the scientific community can more readily utilize the data. When she’s not doing science, Kate enjoys playing the saxophone, gardening, and spending time outdoors, kayaking, swimming, camping, and exploring the Oregon Coast.
